Sustainability at Ammonite

At Ammonite, sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and it’s deeply personal to me. With a BSc in Marine Biology and Oceanography and hands-on experience at the National Marine Aquarium and Seal Rescue Ireland, I’ve gained a deep understanding of how human activities impact marine life. This drives our commitment to minimising our environmental footprint and here’s how we’re making a difference:

Royal Mail for Sustainable Delivery

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and that’s why we’ve opted to use Royal Mail as our trusted delivery service. Royal Mail is a leader in sustainable logistics, continuously working to minimise their environmental impact through initiatives like transitioning to electric vehicles, improving energy efficiency in their operations, and reducing CO2 emissions. They’ve also committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. By choosing Royal Mail, we ensure that our products reach you efficiently while supporting a delivery partner who shares our commitment to sustainability. With Royal Mail’s focus on greener practices and their extensive efforts in reducing environmental impact, we feel confident that our delivery system aligns with our values of environmental responsibility and eco-consciousness.

Recyclable Packaging Commitment

At Ammonite, sustainability extends beyond our products to every aspect of our business, including our packaging. We are proud to say that all of our packaging—from labels and paper inserts to boxes—is fully recyclable. We use materials that are not only environmentally responsible but also designed to minimise waste and support a circular economy.

By choosing recyclable packaging, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and encourage our customers to make mindful, eco-friendly choices when disposing of their packaging. Our commitment to sustainable packaging reflects our ongoing dedication to protecting the planet and reducing unnecessary waste at every step of the process.

Sustainable Comfort with BLOOM® Insoles

We are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact, which is why we’ve incorporated Bloom's innovative sustainable insoles into our footwear.

BLOOM® insoles are made from algae biomass, which is harvested from water sources suffering from harmful algae blooms. This process helps clean and restore aquatic ecosystems, reducing carbon emissions and improving water quality.

Not only are BLOOM® insoles eco-friendly, but they are also high-performance, lightweight, and durable, offering superior comfort without compromising on sustainability. By choosing BLOOM® insoles, we’re helping to create a healthier planet while providing you with a product that’s both sustainable and comfortable.

For more information on how and why we utilise BLOOM® insoles, please visit our Bloom Sustainable Materials page.

Sustainable Leather Sourcing

We are committed to offering products that not only meet high-quality standards but also contribute to a more sustainable future. The leather used in our shoes is sourced from tanneries that have been awarded the Gold Level Certification by the Leather Working Group (LWG). This prestigious certification recognises tanneries for their exceptional environmental performance, including responsible water management, reduced chemical use, and waste minimisation. By choosing leather from LWG-certified tanneries, we ensure that our products are crafted with the highest sustainability standards in mind, helping to reduce the ecological footprint of our footwear while supporting ethical production practices.

Continuous Commitment to Sustainability

We are always striving to improve our sustainability practices and ensure that every decision we make supports a more eco-conscious future. To further this goal, we attended ISPO Munich in December 2024, one of the leading global trade fairs for sustainability in sports and outdoor industries. Our primary objective was to gather cutting-edge insights, explore innovative materials, and connect with like-minded industry leaders who share our commitment to sustainable practices. By attending ISPO Munich, we aimed to strengthen our knowledge and network with experts to implement the best practices in our operations. This is just one of the many steps we’re taking to continuously evolve and reduce our environmental footprint as we work toward a more sustainable future for our brand and the planet.
